Well, guys, the day is here! Thursday! Here already and I’m totally 100% prepared! Just kidding. Am I ever fully 100% prepared?? No.
I’m not going to lie to you, guys and gals- The world got busy and this blog just wasn’t a priority anymore. But I am here, I’m recommitted, and I’m going to be like super attentive to all of you and to this blog. I know, I know “Taylor, we’ve been down this road and then you left us AGAIN.” Well… that’s true. But now I have a plan! I am going to post here every Thursday, rain or shine, and you can bet your buns it will be on time.
I’m still going to post the same stuff- fashion, beauty, travel, and bits and pieces of my life- but I’m also going to integrate some new stuff. I’m going to cover music, movies, art, theater, and general culture. I’m trying to broaden my horizons, you know?
Also, here’s a fun update! I got a cat! His name is Bernie, but usually we (my roommate and I) just call him BB-8, after the droid from Star Wars, because that’s the nerd I am.
I’ll leave you now with a picture and a promise- I will be back! I’ll have something ready for you on Thursday and I can’t wait for you to see it!
I think I can now crown myself the Queen of Extremely Vague Titles. I think I have finally reached that platform in life. I have found my place in the sun and I am basking in it’s warmth. But now I should probably tell you what this update is actually about.
I knocked another thing off of my summer bucket list! And it was painful. And kind of more expensive than I thought it would be…
Guys, I did something and it’s something really cool that I get to tick off my bucket list! I didn’t do anything SUPER cool, just forewarning, like throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain and make a wish (even if I don’t believe that it would actually come true) or ride a hot air balloon, but it’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and just never had the guts to do.
Okay, first off- I hate using clichés like that, but it just fits so well. I’m back in Ohio after spending a glorious week on the beach, being warm and getting sunburned, and it’s cold. We all know that I hate being cold, as evident in my last post.
We road tripped it to Myrtle Beach and with stops it took a total of 12 hours. Ugh. The drive was fun, though! We jammed out to playlists that we had made on Spotify and stopped to eat in random places, which was fun. I got accosted by a man for pronouncing his town’s name wrong. Wytheville. I’m sorry, but it looks like it would be pronounced “Why-th–vil“, but I guess it’s “with-vil“. My bad. Sorry any Wytheville, VA citizens reading this. Also, sorry about your 2009 hostage crisis, but it was fun being there. You have a good Subway.
Alright, so we got to our condo, which we rented on Vacation Rental By Owner from a lovely woman named Julia who is now my best friend, and we unpacked and went grocery shopping. We were going to check things out that night but we were exhausted and opted out of that to get some sleep instead. The next day was beautiful and sunny and so, of course we went to the beach. IT. WAS. GORGEOUS.
For the past four months, I’ve been in agony. I love the way snow looks as it is falling, and I love a brisk winter’s day… but a brisk winter’s day is all that I need. I am an avid lover of summer and all things warm and cozy. I love warm weather and beaches and being outside without seeing my breath and freezing my butt off in -12° weather. No thank you, Mother Nature. Put that thing back where it came from or so help me*!
I’m so glad that in a mere week, I will be in the warm(er) land of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where my friends and I are celebrating our Spring Break. Of course, my professors loaded me up with work to do, which kind of defeats the purpose of it being a “break”, but doing that work will be all the better on the warm sands of a beach in a far away kingdom. We’ve rented a little condo in central Myrtle, which is super cute and I will remember to take a butt load of pictures! I used to be somewhat of a photography nerd, to the extent that it was my major during my freshman year of college, but lately I haven’t had a lot of time to take pictures and hopefully this vacation will give me the freedom to do so. Also, if any of my beautiful (and handsome) readers have any recommendations on locations to frequent, I would love to hear them!
* props to you if you noticed my Monsters Inc. reference. Gotta love that Pixar!
It’s happening, it’s happening! Okay, this is it, everyone calm down! My very first ipsy bag arrived the other day!!! Also, to my fellow United States-ers, Happy President’s Day. Little known fact: I have the biggest crush on Babe Lincoln, and this holiday is kind of a countrywide celebration of his birthday (February 12) and Washington’s birthday (February 22), as well as a celebration of our Presidents in general. You know, the only thing we really do for President’s Day is stop the mail and close the banks, which is very inconvenient for me, but I’m sure a nice break for the mail and bank staff. I’m sure Obama has the day off as well, which must be nice for him. He’s a cool cat.
But PD aside, we are here for a purpose: the unveiling of my very first ipsy bag!! How exciting! It came in an eye-catching hot pink padded envelope and it was quite a delight to see in my mailbox! The actual bag inside was a lovely pink as well, with cheetah print lining!
